Easter Preacher: Bishop Kate
Our guest preacher for Maundy Thursday, Good Friday, and Easter Day is the Rt Revd Kate Prowd.
Bishop Kate is a trailblazer – one of the first women to be deaconed and priested in the Anglican Church in Australia, and later, one of the first women in the Church to be consecrated as a bishop. +Kate now oversees discernment, theological education, ministerial formation, and clergy wellbeing in the Melbourne Diocese.
In addition to being a clergyperson, Bishop Kate is also a clinical psychologist. With this background, her ministry brings together insights about God, the inner life, and human behaviour in a powerful way.
Bishop Kate will also preside on Palm Sunday and be interviewed at morning tea after the 10 am service. The interview will give the congregation a chance to learn a bit more about her ministry, faith journey, and plans for the Triduum.
Bishop Kate is a warm, thoughtful, and pastorally-minded bishop. This can give you confidence to invite guests to St John’s for Holy Week and Easter, knowing her approach will be mindful of the diverse congregation that gathers at this time.
St John’s is blessed to have such an eminent person with us for these most sacred services.
St. John’s is open each day for prayer, reflection, peace and quiet
